Many vehicles travel too fast on the ski road

Please briefly describe the location you are commenting on.

Please reduce the speed limit on the ski road from Coylumbridge Hotel to Glanmore. It can be like a race track with cars and motorcycles accelerating as hard as possible as the reach Coylumbridge enroute for Glenmore

Why do you say that?

Because the satellite view of the park shows vast swathes of sterilised wasteland.

What do you want to tell us about this particular topic?

Huge swathes of what is supposed to be a national park are incinerated on a regular basis.

Do you have any other comments?

As long as people are incinerating the Cairngorms it will never be a genuine national park.

Please briefly describe the location you are commenting on.

All parts of the park used for driven grouse shooting.

Why do you say that?

The benefits of crofting are widely acknowledged and it is supported by government both local and national. As such, we feel its omission from the Plan is an oversight and once the issue is considered, the CNPA will be happy to include it in the finalised Plan.

What do you want to tell us about this particular topic?

The current draft Partnership Plan makes no reference to crofting, despite crofting being available in ca 45% of the Park area. Given the ability for crofting to deliver against multiple Plan objectives, this is a serious omission and should be addressed.

Do you have any other comments?

We (the Woodland Crofts Partnership) would be happy to discuss this issue, and the potential role of woodland crofts in the Park, directly with CNPA officers.

Why do you say that?

Scottish Ministers have the legal power to do this, so if the CNPA and local authorities request it of them, then they should surely respond positively to the request.

What do you want to tell us about this particular topic?

Unlike the north & west (approx 45% of the Park area), the south & east of the Park is an area where crofting is not available. Given the numerous benefits of crofting & potential to deliver against Plan objectives, and also to unify the approach across the Park, it is proposed that the south & east of the Park also is designated an area for crofting.

Why do you say that?

The gaming industry appears to still hold more power than the need to protect and increase biodiversity.

What do you want to tell us about this particular topic?

The release of thousands of pheasants and red legged partridge in Glen Clova and up to Glen Doll is having a huge impact on the local ecology. Given that pheasants predate insects there is likely to be a negative impact on populations of mayfly as only one example. What concerns me the most is that having asked, there appears to be no system of recording numbers of birds released or being accountable for them. These are non native species and there should surely be accountability for their release at the very least.

Do you have any other comments?

Individuals have a role to play by finding alternative ways of challenging their nature prowess than a form of hunting that equates to shooting fish in a tank.
